General manager David Forst announced on Friday that designated hitter Brent Rooker underwent surgery for a right forearm extensor injury and should be ready for spring training.
Despite battling a lingering forearm ailment, Rooker finished the season with career highs in homers, RBIs, runs scored, steals, batting average, OPS, and WAR.
Manager Kotsay mentioned that utilizing Rooker in the outfield next season could help lengthen the lineup, making the team more competitive.
Forst expressed admiration for Rooker's performance despite injury, noting it's impressive he managed to achieve such offensive success through adversity.
