BPL announces expanded immigrant services after $1 mil grant
Briefly

The funding will be used to support the library's English for Speakers of Other Languages adult education classes, which are used by New Yorkers from around the world to develop their English skills.
BPL director of adult learning Kerwin Pilgrim shared that former students have approached him to say that BPL classes aided them in securing employment.
With the grant, the library estimates that it can expand capacity to serve 4,600 more people, illustrating a significant increase in support.
Kerwin Pilgrim noted that 'The immigrant experience is traumatizing... That person was proof-of-concept that I made a difference,' highlighting the transformative impact of these classes.
