A child was found injured at Pitta Patta Nursery on July 2. Emergency services were contacted, leading to a misunderstanding that prompted police involvement. The nursery confirmed that the boy was taken to the hospital but has since been discharged. Ofsted has suspended operations for up to six weeks starting July 3 to investigate potential risks. The nursery remains confident in its quality of care and will cooperate with the investigation while emphasizing that there was no serious harm to any child, pledging to adapt policies if necessary.
A spokesperson for Pitta Patta Nursery said the child was involved in an incident whilst playing in the garden area. It added that due to an initial misunderstanding, the emergency services contacted the police, which suggested that a more serious event had occurred.
Ofsted suspended the registration of the nursery for up to six weeks to allow time for further enquiries. The nursery said it is very confident of the quality of care and attention provided by them, which was reflected in their recent outstanding Ofsted rating.
Ofsted stated that continued provision of childcare at the nursery may expose children to a risk of harm. The purpose of the suspension is to allow time for enquiries to be made and steps taken to eliminate or reduce any risk of harm.
Pitta Patta Day Nursery Limited must not act as a registered childcare provider while suspended. It is an offence for a person registered on the Early Years Register or the compulsory part of the Childcare Register to provide childcare while suspended.
