Boredom: An Endless Present
Briefly

"What people call boredom is actually an abnormal compression of time caused by monotony... the true tense of all existence is the inelastic present" (Mann, p. 102).
"Our attitude toward time is altered... there seems to be only an endless present" (Wangh, 1975).
Boredom may be specifically human since, to feel bored, we have to have some measure of time" (Wangh).
The German word for boredom, langeweile, literally means a long while, 'in which time loses its measure'" (Wangh).
