Big interview - Jack O'Connor: 'There's a better balance now and it is more sustainable'
"Kerry's All-Ireland-winning manager had intended stepping away but insists he's in the right frame of mind to continue. If time ever allows him on Sundays, Jack O'Connor will dig out his bike and take off on a familiar route through his particular neck of south Kerry woods."
"St Finian's Bay, Ballinskelligs, Portmagee, 30 to 40 kilometres along the coast with the Atlantic swell in his ears."
Jack O'Connor intended to step away from his role as Kerry manager but insists he is in the right frame of mind to continue. He values time outdoors and, when Sundays allow, he digs out his bike and rides through his part of south Kerry woods. His familiar coastal route passes St Finian's Bay, Ballinskelligs and Portmagee. The rides typically cover thirty to forty kilometres along the coast. The Atlantic swell accompanies much of the route and forms an audible backdrop. The cycling routine provides physical exertion and mental reset between management responsibilities.
