After being closed since September 2024 due to severe roof damage from heavy rainfall, Bexleyheath theatre will reopen in February 2025. It canceled three productions during the closure. Management and volunteers have worked hard to prepare the venue for reopening. The first performance will be a radio play adaptation of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds featuring live sound effects. Director Lindsay Dale aims to engage audiences with an innovative retelling, while writer Eric Whiting highlights the historical significance of the original story.
This theatre shutdown has allowed us to breathe new life into a classic story. We believe the combination of live effects and immersive adaptations will resonate with audiences.
The fact that we now have access to improved technology has us excited to create truly terrifying Martian invaders through lighting and sound.
