The Freedom Archives, based in Berkeley, is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving historical materials that document progressive movements from the 1960s to the 1990s, housing about 12,000 hours of audio and video.
Co-founder Claude Marks explains the archive's genesis stemmed from a desire to repurpose social movement material they had created, originally produced by radio producers at KPFA, which refused to archive them.
