Concerns arose for the Sidcup Storyteller cinema following the voluntary liquidation of its operator, Really Local Group (RLG), amid financial disputes with Lewisham Council. Despite these challenges, the cinema continues to thrive since its June 2023 opening, being a vital part of community life. Bexley Council assured patrons that memberships will remain valid while a new operator is sought. The venue, recognized for its architectural excellence, hosts multiple cultural offerings and encourages community involvement in programming, reflecting an ongoing commitment to local engagement and success.
We just wanted to assure you all that we are fully open and completely operational as normal. We can't wait for the year ahead with some big film releases and events in the pipeline.
The cinema has already become a much-loved feature of the community, promoting engagement and shaping its programming based on local input.
