Bayside businesses remain open despite significant flood damage from recent storm - QNS
Briefly

Bayside suffered severe flooding due to a thunderstorm, with water flooding numerous basements and damaging vehicles. Local businesses, including Cinco de Mayo, reported substantial damage, specifically more than $20,000 at Carillo's restaurant from ceiling collapse and damaged goods. The restaurant managed to reopen just two days later with help from its landlord. Assistance from local officials and the Emergency Response Unit was crucial in helping businesses recover effectively post-flood.
"The ERU, which provides direct, on-the-ground support to businesses impacted by emergencies across the city, helps small businesses by sharing relevant information, securing storefronts, expediting permits and providing free legal assistance both before and after emergencies take place."
"I thought it would take more time (to reopen)," Carillo said, adding that it was "very scary" watching the water pour in from the ceiling.
