The council claimed that it took the drastic step after tenants reported persistent problems in communal areas with drugs and disruptive people who did not live at Cordell House.
Cllr Sarah Williams, deputy leader of Haringey Council, said: 'This closure has proven to be a success. This is a first in Haringey and to secure such an order, we are demonstrating our commitment to ensuring that our residents feel safe.'
After a three-month closure at Cordell House, just five anti-social behaviour offences were reported, contrasting sharply with 120 offences noted in the first three months of the year.
One resident expressed relief, stating: 'Not seeing any anti-social behaviour recently, especially drug users on the stairs, has been a relief. I feel much safer now.'
