Rep. Byron Donalds defended the Trump rally against accusations of racism, highlighting the presence of diverse speakers and criticizing the media for using fearmongering narratives.
Donalds condemned the media's portrayal, stating, 'This is the problem with most media today. They’re too busy trying to fearmonger instead of talking about the facts and substance.'
When pressed about comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's offensive jokes, Donalds acknowledged disagreement but emphasized that the Trump campaign distanced itself from the comedian's comments.
He stated confidently, 'I was there the entire time. So to the New York Daily News, is it a racist rally if you have a black man from Florida speaking at the rally? I don’t think so.'
