Anthony Smith, a former UFC title challenger, sought to compete in Power Slap, a controversial sport known for its lack of defensive measures during bouts. Despite his willingness to engage in this new arena, his request was quickly rejected by UFC executive Hunter Campbell, who did not even consult Dana White on the matter. Smith's recent struggles in the UFC, including a rough fight record and thoughts of retirement, have fueled his desire for another bout, but his aspirations in Power Slap were firmly shut down.
"I tried, they told me no. Straight up," Smith recently told Ariel Helwani. "I asked Hunter and he told me no. He wouldn't even bring it to Dana."
"Power Slap has emerged as a controversial sport with participants taking direct shots to the head without any form of defense."
