An update on Micro LED
Briefly

Micro LED TVs represent a promising advancement in display technology, combining the best features of OLED and LCD-LED while avoiding burn-in. However, there are significant hurdles to mass production, particularly due to high costs and strong competition from OLED. Currently, Micro LED TVs are available but prohibitively expensive, with projections suggesting that mainstream versions will not appear in consumer markets for another five years. Some manufacturers, like AUO, plan to roll out smaller applications and larger formats in the near future, although OLED's market dominance complicates their efforts.
Micro LED technology merges the advantages of OLED and LCD-LED displays, promising great contrast, brightness, and durability while avoiding burn-in problems, but remains costly and rare.
Current Micro LED TVs are priced in six figures, making them unattainable for most consumers, with realistic mass-market availability likely still five years away.
Display manufacturer AUO is set to mass-produce Micro LED displays for wearables by 2025 and larger displays for TVs and monitors shortly thereafter.
The current popularity of OLED among consumers poses a challenge for the wider adoption of Micro LED technology in the consumer electronics market.
