Cisco has introduced its smart switches featuring AMD's Pensando data processing units (DPUs) to enhance performance and manage security and storage tasks efficiently. Debuting at Cisco Live Amsterdam, these advanced switches, part of the Nexus 9300 series, utilize Cisco's new E100 ASIC, capable of delivering up to 4.8 Tbps of bandwidth. The use of Pensando DPUs allows data-intensive workloads to be offloaded from connected systems, streamlining network management and reducing the need for individual DPU cards across networks, though they feature the older Elba generation instead of the latest Salina DPUs.
Cisco's new smart switches now integrate AMD's Pensando DPUs, offloading data workloads to enhance network performance and security capabilities.
