Italy's highest court upheld Amanda Knox's slander conviction, leaving her with one crime following a 17-year ordeal after the death of her British roommate, Meredith Kercher. While Knox was cleared of other charges relating to Kercher's murder—criticized for 'stunning flaws' in police work—her accusation against Patrick Lumumba remains. Lumumba expressed he hoped Knox’s actions would haunt her life, while Knox maintained her claim of innocence, saying the ordeal remains traumatic even after numerous legal proceedings.
Knox maintained that she had pointed a finger at Lumumba under pressure from police, who fed her false information and didn't provide her a lawyer or translator during questioning.
My reaction was one of great satisfaction, both from a professional and human standpoint. In this case, right after poor Meredith, the second victim is named Patrick Lumumba.
