Hussein Jaber noted, "When we were kids, everyone would come here to buy their things. This market wasn't just for Nabatieh, but for all the villages around."
The destruction of the market has left a significant void in the community, as Jaber described the scene: "Children's clothes, computer parts and products from the now-levelled stores that used to line the market littered the ground, all covered in a layer of grey ash."
According to human rights organizations, the presence of US-made munitions at the site of destruction raises serious concerns about the weapons being used in the conflict. A Human Rights Watch representative confirmed the identification of a joint direct attack munition (JDAM) that contributed to the devastation.
Medical officials reported, "The wave of Israeli airstrikes had further degraded living conditions, in effect depopulating the city almost entirely," highlighting the severe impact on the populace.
