Agencies have struggled to meet IDEA Act requirements, watchdog finds
Briefly

In 2023, only a third of 24 federal agencies fully met the accessibility requirements mandated by the IDEA Act, which aims to enhance public-facing digital services.
The Government Accountability Office's audit revealed a significant gap in compliance, noting that while agencies made some progress over the years, the overall adherence to the IDEA Act requirements was still lacking.
Seven agencies met all IDEA Act standards, while six failed to submit any required reports. This inconsistency raises concerns about digital accessibility across federal platforms.
In total, agencies submitted 84 of the required 120 annual reports between 2019 and 2023, highlighting a challenging path toward achieving compliant digital experiences.
