The UK Defense Ministry announced the successful testing of an air-defense system that utilizes a precision laser to track and jam missiles mid-flight.
Officials reported that the laser successfully intercepted 100% of its targets during live tests at the Vidsel Test Range, even against simultaneous infrared heat-seeking missile launches.
Defense Secretary John Healey emphasized the system's rapid response capabilities, stating that 'threats are defeated faster than the time it takes to read this sentence.'
The new anti-missile laser, developed jointly by Leonardo and Thales, is designed for use on Royal Air Force aircraft like the Shadow R2 and A400M Atlas.
