A guide to the Nature Index
Briefly

The Nature Index tracks contributions to high-quality research articles based on an independent group's assessment, providing absolute and fractional counts at institutional and national levels.
The Count metric assigns 1 to each article that includes authors from a country or institution, regardless of total authors, allowing multiple contributions from a single article.
Share is a fractional count that distributes contribution among authors for each article, ensuring that institutions' contributions reflect actual authorship to avoid double counting.
Nature Index data is regularly updated, featuring the most recent contributions under a Creative Commons licence, enabling free access to insights on global research output.
