The restoration of the Temple of Horus is revealing vibrant colors that were hidden under centuries of grime, fundamentally changing the interpretation of its inscriptions.
"The Temple of Horus at Edfu is considered the icon of a typical Egyptian temple and part of any sightseeing tour in Egypt," said Martin A. Stadler.
For decades, tourists have been missing out on the temple's true splendor, as a dull, grayish-brown facade had obscured its detailed historical artworks.
