"This year we've concentrated a bit more on the 'older' original props and spent a good bit of time taking them apart, cleaning and repairing and updating any pixels that may be at the end of their useful shelf life. To this end around 1,500 pixels have been replaced. We've added a bunch of new sequences to the display and a few new props. It's house facade space we're running out of otherwise we'd have lot's more!"
"Within days we had the Galway Mayor and his Deputy lined up to come launch the show and 27 drummers to open for us on the evening from a local group called Drumadore. We have a special relationship with Santa and each year he gives up his time to come visit us at the children's show on Sundays at 4.30pm."
Every December since 2018 the Carrick Family at Lurgan Park, Renmore, stages a synchronized Christmas light show that doubles as a charity fundraiser. The season began on November 29 with nightly shows Wednesday to Sunday for one hour, featuring over 70,000 LED lights timed to music. Preparation requires about 800 hours annually. The family repaired older props, replaced around 1,500 pixels, and added new sequences and props while constrained by available house façade space. Special guests included the Galway Mayor and Deputy, 27 drummers from Drumadore, and Santa for the Sunday children's show. The family has donated over €20,000 to local charities and this year supported Galway Autism Partnership.
