25 Companies Urge FCC to Protect CBRS
Briefly

A coalition of 25 organizations has urged FCC Chairman Brendan Carr against proposed modifications to the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) framework, arguing that increasing power levels and relaxing emissions limits would transform CBRS into a high-power macro cellular band. This shift threatens numerous deployments and applications, such as rural broadband and industrial networks, and could negate a decade of technical cooperation among federal agencies and industry. The organizations warn that such changes risk disrupting existing agreements and undermine support for commercial operations and national security efforts.
Twenty-five organizations sent a letter this week to new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr in opposition to prospective changes to the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) framework.
The letter urges the FCC to not pursue proposals to increase power levels for CBRS devices and relax emissions limits which would transform CBRS into yet another high-power, macro cellular band.
The changes would jeopardize the large number of CBRS deployments and wide range of use cases, including rural broadband, competitive mobile services, manufacturing, industrial and enterprise private networks.
The changes would also imperil the technical progress made over the last decade through collaboration between the Commission, federal agencies, and industry.
