About 200,000 people gathered at Munich's Theresienwiese to protest Iran's Islamic Republic, denouncing the deadly repression of nationwide January protests. Demonstrators waved lion-and-sun Pahlavi-era flags and chanted pro-monarchy slogans calling for Reza Pahlavi to lead a transitional period. Human rights groups report thousands killed in the crackdown. Protesters urged international action and planned parallel rallies in Toronto and Los Angeles. Reza Pahlavi spoke at the Munich Security Conference, appealed to US President Donald Trump to help the Iranian people, and called for humanitarian intervention to prevent further loss of life.
