Johnny Wactor was killed while trying to stop three thieves stealing the catalytic converter from his car, leading to the conviction of two lesser accomplices.
Leonel Gutierrez, 19, was sentenced to four years in state prison after pleading no contest to grand theft and attempted robbery related to the incident.
Frank Olano, 22, received a sentence of five years and eight months for being an accessory after the fact and receiving stolen property, not at the scene.
