Video. Yoga initiative aims to train instructors in Rio's favelas
Briefly

An initiative launched by Yoganaya International School and Mude plans to train approximately 180 future teachers from low-income communities in Rio and São Paulo over the course of 14 months. Participants will be provided with essential resources including uniforms, yoga mats, speakers, microphones, and received stipends. The program aims to facilitate career transitions for its participants as they enter the job market. One participant, Luciene Costa, is motivated to shift from hairdressing to teaching yoga after experiencing back pain relief through the practice. The initiative seeks to redefine yoga's image as accessible, promoting sustainable careers in favelas.
