Miller Gardner, the son of former Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner, passed away at the age of 14 from asphyxiation during a family vacation in Costa Rica. Within hours of falling ill, several family members reported becoming sick. The US State Department confirmed that Costa Rican authorities are investigating the incident, while the Gardner family has requested privacy in this challenging time. The grieving parents described their son as a beloved individual full of life and passion, expressing deep gratitude for the support received.
Out of respect for the privacy of the family and loved ones during this difficult time, we have no further comment at this time.
We have so many questions and so few answers at this point, but we do know that he passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st.
Miller was a beloved son and brother and we cannot yet comprehend our life without his infectious smile. He loved football, baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, his family and his friends.
We are so thankful to all who have reached out to offer support and encouragement during this difficult time and we are confident our faith, family, and friends will help us navigate this unimaginable loss.
