Costa Rican authorities say Miller Gardner may have died of carbon monoxide poisoning
Briefly

Miller Gardner, the son of MLB player Brett Gardner, tragically passed away on March 21 during a family vacation in Costa Rica. Initially believed to have died from asphyxiation due to food poisoning, subsequent investigations indicated high levels of carbon monoxide in their hotel room. Costa Rican officials reported contamination levels as high as 600 parts per million. The investigation will continue, pending final toxicology results. This incident sadly follows the recent deaths of three American tourists in similar circumstances in the area.
"The initial investigative findings indicate that the incident was due to this contamination, with levels as high as 600 parts per million detected - when the appropriate level in this case should be zero."
"It's also important to note that next to [the family's] room there is a specialized machine room, from which it is believed some form of contamination may have reached the guest rooms, potentially causing the incident."
