Sergio Busquets of Inter Miami acknowledged that the team is not currently at the competitive level required for the 2025 Club World Cup. Following a disappointing exit from the Concacaf Champions Cup, Busquets stressed that the team would aim to fight for advancement in their group despite formidable opponents. Head coach Javier Mascherano echoed these sentiments, noting the team's need for improvement and current focus on the MLS rather than the forthcoming tournament. The club is set to face major international teams, intensifying the need for development and strategic focus.
"It's clear that we are not at the level to compete at the Club World Cup, but we will try to compete in our group," Busquets told DAZN.
"Sometimes you have to accept that the opponent has the hierarchy and has surpassed us. They surpassed us," Mascherano said.
"We need to improve, we have to look forward, we need to learn from this and the last week. Today the feeling is really, really bad." Mascherano noted.
"We now have to keep focusing on MLS," Mascherano said. "I don't think ahead to the Club World Cup right now."
