Tyler Herro scored 22 points with six boards, seven assists, two steals and two blocks on 4-of-8 from 3-point range.
The Timberwolves outmatched them from deep on 12 points despite shooting just 8-of-14 from the charity stripe.
Friday's loss drops the Heat back to four games below .500 for the second time this season at 29-33.
