Fabio Caro, founder of Macondo Coffee in Miami, urges coffee drinkers to savor Colombian coffee without sugar, highlighting its smoothness. Since opening in 2015, the chain has grown to five locations and aims to change perceptions of Colombia, historically associated with negative stereotypes. Caro, an immigrant from Colombia, is committed to celebrating his homeland's coffee heritage and has successfully introduced Colombian flavors into the Miami coffee scene amidst the strong traditional Cuban coffee culture.
At Macondo, freshly roasted Colombian coffee is prepared to be smooth. That's kept customers coming back since Caro opened his first coffee shop in Doral in 2015.
I said that Colombia should be known for something more than that. Colombia is a well-known place for coffee. I said, let's do something positive.
