Mike LaMonica, a 16-time All-American swimmer, continues to inspire at age 65 by training rigorously, aiming for world records in competitive swimming. He trains heavily, swimming five days a week, with a focus on both water and strength training. Recently, he broke national records at the Rowdy Gaines Masters Classic, showcasing his resilience and dedication. Beyond his personal achievements, he is also recognized as Swim Coach of the Year at Gulliver Prep, shaping the future of young swimmers, while balancing family and career in Miami.
"No one has broken any of my three national records. I will be attempting to break the World Record in the 100 Meter Butterfly in a meet this November. If I can drop .37 seconds that would do it!"
"The final time, adjusted to yards, would have been fast enough to qualify for Florida High School state championships," he said.
"I was recently named Swim Coach of the Year at the Gulliver Prep annual banquet. I am the school's head coach for 53 master swimmers and also help out with the entire age group swim program."
