Adrian Barrera, a 32-year-old Amazon contractor, was arrested in Miami for allegedly stealing $45,000 in goods while dumping empty boxes at a Lowe's parking lot. Detained at the scene, Barrera claimed he picked up the packages from an Amazon distribution center but instead of delivering them, he discarded the boxes to make space in the truck for his furniture. He argued he wasn't stealing, as he believed Amazon did not track inventory. Additionally, a small amount of crystal meth was found in his vehicle during the arrest.
Detective M. Fernandez, part of the sheriff's office Illegal Dumping Unit, rolled up to the Amazon truck and found its back-bay door wide open.
Barrera reportedly told police that he wasn't stealing 'because Amazon didn't track the inventory.'
Barrera said 'he was in the process of moving and needed the space in the truck for his furniture.'
