A popular Miami luxury hotel will be demolished soon. See what's coming next
Briefly

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Brickell Key, a luxury hotel since 2000, will close in May 2025 ahead of a planned demolition and redevelopment. The owners, Swire Properties, aim to build a new hotel and residential tower with a mix of luxury condos and guest accommodations by 2030. The new project will focus on fewer hotel rooms to enhance exclusivity and preference for high-end amenities, including a sizable spa and outdoor areas, reflecting trends in luxury urban developments.
"For an urban luxury resort, 110-150 [rooms] is the sweet spot," Henry Bott explained, underscoring the development's shift towards exclusivity with fewer hotel rooms.
"Larger than that, it becomes a more conventional hotel," said Bott, highlighting the strategy of a more limited number of guest rooms to enhance luxury.
"We'll have a signature spa with all the latest elements of wellness," said Francesco Cefalu, indicating a focus on high-end amenities for future visitors.
The new project, slated for 2030, will feature a mix of hotel rooms and private condos to cater to the affluent demographic.
