2 Venezuelans with TPS jailed after ripping off PPP loans in South Florida: feds
"The defendants engaged in a scheme to conceal the nature of the funds, demonstrating how far they went to misuse the COVID-19 relief program."
"The fraudulent loan applications claimed inflated company revenues and employee numbers, showcasing a significant deception aimed at exploiting government resources."
Freddy Urribarri and Mairilin Muñoz, Venezuelan nationals with Temporary Protected Status, face federal charges for defrauding the Paycheck Protection Program. Operating through their company FU & MM General Services, they submitted false loan applications that inflated company revenues and employee numbers, aiming to secure hundreds of thousands in COVID-19 relief funds. Their deceit led to a loan approval of approximately $438,000, and upon receiving these funds, they attempted to obscure their fraudulent activities. Arrested on April 21, both are charged with conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering.
