Will Johnson, a Michigan cornerback, will be absent from the school's pro day on March 21 due to a hamstring injury, although it is not deemed serious. This follows a prior turf toe injury that sidelined him in the latter half of the Wolverines' season. Johnson has not played since October, and he will conduct a private workout on April 14. Despite his injuries, he remains a highly ranked draft prospect, being placed at No. 11 and No. 9 on ESPN's draft boards.
Johnson was named the Defensive MVP of the 2023 College Football Playoff title game when the Wolverines closed out the '23 season with the national championship.
Johnson said at the combine, "(his injury) sounds like just a toe, but I had tore some ligaments in my toe, so I couldn't run, couldn't plant, couldn't do anything ... for a while, really until mid-January."
The injury isn't considered serious, but that Johnson will not participate in the school's on-campus pro day March 21. Johnson is now scheduled to have a private workout April 14.
Johnson is the No. 11 player overall in Reid's latest mock draft and is the No. 9 player overall on ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest big board.
