"Players who achieve specific snap rate criteria will receive the average of the third-20th top salaries at their position, incentivizing consistent performance."
NFL teams have until May 1 to pick up fifth-year options for 2023 first-round draft picks. The 2020 CBA changed the option structure to make them fully guaranteed. Fifth-year option salaries are based on performance and usage benchmarks. Two-time Pro Bowlers earn the franchise tag amount, while one-time Pro Bowlers receive the transition tag amount. Players meeting specific snap rate criteria will earn the average of the third to twentieth top salaries at their position. Those not meeting benchmarks will receive the average of the third to twenty-fifth top salaries.
