"I'm not elated, and I'm not disappointed," J. Wiley Hicks, an attorney for South River Warehouse, said after the jury handed down its verdict. He added that he feels "fortunate" that jurors valued the property as high as they did.
Robert Schreiber, also an attorney for South River Warehouse, said there remains a "question mark" about whether the city will accept the deal.
The city's plan to use eminent domain for a public park has met resistance from property owners who argue the proposed compensation doesn't reflect the land's true value.
City attorneys appraised the land's worth at $5-6 million, while the property owners believed it should be valued over $13.8 million.
