Judge sets auction for 3 buildings of historic Overtown church due to ex-pastor's loan
Briefly

St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church in Miami has until Sept. 11 to repay a $1.6 million mortgage taken out by its former pastor.
The church says it was unaware of the mortgage when it was taken out in 2018.
The mortgage lender filed a foreclosure lawsuit after the loan went into default.
The auction date for three of the church's buildings, including the fellowship hall, is set for Sept. 11.
Congregants risk losing their fellowship hall while the church undergoes renovations.
