The cheating scandal involving the Hialeah Fire Department has prompted a personnel board decision mandating that all candidates who passed retake the exam after allegations of unfair advantage surfaced.
Following the resignation of Fire Chief Willians Guerra, it became clear that the integrity of the promotional testing process was seriously compromised, leading to increased scrutiny and a need for a reevaluation of procedures.
District Fire Chief Robert Ortega brought the allegations to light, asserting in a sworn statement that one employee had been given advance access to answers for critical parts of the promotional exam.
The turmoil within the department is further exacerbated by the controversy surrounding the perfect score achieved by Edward Altidor, which has raised questions about the legitimacy of the exam results.
