What a Hyperfixation Really Is
Briefly

Hyperfixation represents a heightened state of focus on interests, hobbies, or activities, often to the detriment of neglecting other responsibilities or social interactions. Experts explain that while this intense focus can drive passion and productivity, it can also alienate individuals from relationships and daily obligations. This phenomenon is especially prevalent among those with ADHD or autism, where the hyperfixation may manifest in repetitive behaviors or prolonged engagement with specific interests. Understanding and addressing hyperfixation can help individuals balance their passions with other life responsibilities.
Hyperfixating is focusing on something with intensity... often that means other things are going to be disregarded or won't be as interesting.
Hyperfixating is different from plain old focusing because it's much more extreme... someone who's hyperfixating... might listen to the same album on repeat, watch (and then rewatch) a favorite TV series.
