Colleges provide various resources for student success, yet many students are unaware of them, with only 56% acknowledging their existence. Zoraya Betancourt, director of the University of South Florida's Academic Success Center, has worked to make these resources more inviting post-COVID-19. The center underwent transformation based on student feedback and data analysis, focusing on understanding students' needs better. Betancourt collaborated with data scientists to develop a dashboard to monitor usage patterns, leading to more tailored support efforts for academic success.
"For many years the only data we had was how many students come and use the services how many times," as well as some student identification data, Betancourt said. "I always thought we need more than that-we need to know more than that."
