Aimee Lou Wood, a breakout star of The White Lotus, has garnered attention for her distinctive smile, which may have inadvertently revived a troubling trend: DIY teeth-filing on TikTok. With hashtags like #teethfiling gaining traction, many users are resorting to filing their teeth with nail files, despite the potential for permanent damage. Dental professionals warn that unlike nails, tooth enamel doesn’t regenerate, resulting in lasting harm. Orthodontists like Benjamin Winters advise viewers against this practice, emphasizing the need for professional dental care instead.
"When you file your nails, your nails grow back, but your teeth don't... Once it's gone, that's it," said dentist Zainab Mackie, warning about the dangers of DIY teeth-filing.
Aimee Lou Wood expressed concern over the trend, stating, "I hope that people don't start, like, filing their teeth so they have gaps."
"Don't get mad at me when your teeth are more sensitive than a two-year-old crying over spilled milk, because I ain't going to help you," said orthodontist Benjamin Winters.
Teeth-filing videos, popularized by users on TikTok, have surged, with hashtags #teethfiling and #teethfile gaining popularity despite warnings from dental professionals.
