The 2025 Red Bull Hardline Wales rider roster features returning champion Rónán Dunne, who has made a swift recovery from severe injuries following a crash in Tasmania. Despite facing fractures in his collarbone, pelvis, and vertebrae, Dunne's injuries were not as severe as they could have been. In an interview, he expressed surprise at the speed of his recovery and shared insights about the risks of mountain biking and his preparation for the upcoming races, emphasizing his readiness to compete once more.
I've had some pretty big crashes and been okay, but there was no getting away from that one. I broke my collarbone, pelvis, and like four vertebrae in my back, but they weren't broken in a super severe place, so they healed really quickly.
It was all just clean breaks, and everything healed pretty well. After the crash, I tried to play it off like I wasn't too badly injured, but I think everyone could tell I was pretty hurt.
This was my first proper injury, so it definitely shifted my perspective on risk while riding.
I'm pretty surprised - I thought it would be a slower comeback to riding, but I wasn't out that long.
