'I used to smoke 60 cigarettes a day - quitting changed my life'
Briefly

After smoking for 25 years, Sam Scales successfully quit with support from the Ladywell Unit in Lewisham. Her journey highlights significant mental and physical health improvements, including restored sense of taste and smell, and better financial stability, as smoking previously strained her budget. With the campaign urging those with mental health issues to quit smoking, Scales' story underscores the importance of cessation programs, especially since smoking exacerbates several health risks common in this population, leading to shorter lifespans.
