Inter Milan midfielder Linda Magull opened up about her journey through severe depression, which stemmed from both personal and professional challenges. After a successful run with Germany, where she earned silver at the Euro 2022, she faced a disheartening group stage elimination in the 2023 World Cup and a decrease in playing time at Bayern Munich. Following her move to Inter Milan in January 2024, Magull felt a profound sense of loss, which led to panic attacks. Acknowledging her struggles, she sought six weeks of treatment in a private clinic, ultimately rediscovering her passion for the sport.
"I wouldn't have had a problem with dying," Magull said of the period when she reached rock bottom.
"I was totally confused and didn't know what to do with myself," she said.
"I fled Munich, but after a few weeks, I missed it terribly. I thought I'd lost everything," she said.
"I knew I had to do it because my thoughts had become so out of control that I no longer saw any meaning in life.
