Exist is a new social wellness app targeting middle-aged consumers, aiming to enhance connection through social journaling and community building. Founded by Jason Jardim and Alicia Waldner after discussing mental wellness on a date, the app features mood tracking, audio exercises, and guided meditations, focusing on shared experiences rather than solitary practice. It originally aimed for Gen Z but found more resonance with users averaging 40 years old. Its unique TikTok-like feed allows users to engage with public journals and support one another, fostering a sense of community often absent in existing apps like Calm and Headspace.
"The biggest feature that makes us different is the community side," Waldner said. "Headspace and Calm proved that there's this audio-based market, but people still feel very alone in those experiences and in real life, people want to connect."
