Does Trauma Make Us Age Faster?
Briefly

Research indicates that individuals with childhood trauma experience accelerated aging, primarily due to the psychological and physical toll of their experiences. These survivors often develop chronic health issues and feel compelled to grow up quickly, aiming to escape their traumatic environments. This behavior is deeply rooted in their biological survival instincts. The Life History Strategy theory suggests that such individuals prioritize early adulthood as a coping mechanism, ironically leading them to replicate negative life patterns rather than find resolution or healing.
I've always felt older than my peers. I don't know why. I just remember this rush to grow up- to leave the house, have kids, have a family... to somehow prove to myself that this was possible I guess?
Many survivors of childhood trauma have to grow up early... It is actually rooted in a biological drive to survive and preserve their sense of safety.
