Conduct disorder, with a high burden in youth, is underexplored. Identifying brain differences can improve diagnosis and treatment for better long-term results. Follow-up studies will explore if brain structure differences are causes or consequences of the disorder.
MRI data analysis of 15 studies on youth with conduct disorder showed significant brain structure differences. Focus was on cerebral cortex alterations critical for behavior, cognition, and emotion. Further analyses considered factors like gender, age of symptom onset, and empathy levels.
