Yale Settles With Patients Who Sued Over Painful Egg Retrievals
Briefly

The patients involved in the settlement filed lawsuits after Yale Fertility Center's nurse tampered with their anesthesia, replacing it with saline, resulting in excruciating pain.
Nurse Donna Monticone was responsible for altering the anesthetic used during egg retrievals, leading to 75% of patients receiving a diluted or saline solution instead of fentanyl.
After significant legal action, Yale agreed to a substantial settlement estimated at around $2 million per patient for the pain and suffering caused by the procedures.
Karen Peart, a Yale spokeswoman, stated that this mutual agreement allows both the patients and the institution to move forward and commence the healing process.
