When it comes to individual hospitals, most were complimentary, praising staff and care. But they did not hold back in some criticisms such as the state of cleanliness in University Hospital Waterford.
A patient treated in University Hospital Kerry said: 'Change patients more often. Not left sit all day in wet pads. Was given the feeling if you are over a certain age they don't want to know you'.
An alarming concern was highlighted from university hospitals, where overcrowding in emergency departments is frequent, with one patient recalling: 'Staff under extreme pressure, not seen for hours even though I came as emergency from GP surgery by ambulance.'
